Q: Why should I join this unit?
There are so many out there and some will make me recon
platoon commander and give me rank as a captain
immediately.
A: Consider the following:
- Dedicated game servers
- A dedicated unit communications server
- Unit technical support crew to address any issue you
may have
- Your own email address forwarding from
usmc-warriors.org
- Secure unit message forum membership for transmission
of all tactical and administrative information
- A crack administrative section covering every aspect
of unit logistics and success.
- Professional military instructors training squad
members with real life Marine Corps tactics.
- Tactical emphasis of the multi-player combat sim.
experience
- Real fellowship and great company of fellow warriors
- Opportunity for advancement and awards of merit.
- A real feeling of accomplishment in an environment
where you get out exactly what you put in.
- NO OTHER CHOICE FOR YOU IF YOU'RE A PRIOR SERVICE
MARINE EXISTS: Look at the other "Marine-based" units,
how many real Marines are on their roster? How actively
are they training? How mature are these individuals? We
are the best on both accounts.
* No better run, more tactically based, dedicated and
hardcore unit exists... PERIOD.
Q: How do I join?
A: Before applying please consider the following:
- Are you a prior service member?
- Are you a US resident?
- Do you have a high-speed internet connection?
- Do you have a proper install of a multiplayer version
of ARMA2?
- Can you commit adequately to this unit in time,
enthusiasm?
The next step is to fill out an application for the USMC
Warriors. You will then be contacted by our Recruiting
Team and be given a one-on-one interview to go over any
issues you may have or to answer further questions to
verify your application. If you are applying for the
close air section a flight test will then be required
before your acceptance, otherwise you will report to
MCRD and begin training.
Q: How do I get into the
recon/scout sniper section?
A: We get MANY applications to join the recon section or
from those who want to be "scout" or "sniper". I know we
all want to be "high-speed" and "low drag". And there
are a lot of units out there that promote themselves as
covert and specialized. We think this is BS. We will not
accept any new joins directly into the recon unit. You
may think you rate going straight in... think again.
Only those who make full status as a USMC Warrior as a
member of one of the grunt squads and are then selected
for recon will make it.
Q: Sounds like a lot of
B.S. becoming a member, I just want to play the damn
game. What gives with these entrance obstacles... why
are you guys such dicks?
A: USMC Warriors has been around since the start of
Delta Force I. Some of the original members remain on
the roll for ARMA2. We are all about
unit cohesion and staying power. This is why we have
been around so long, we only take and maintain quality
people. We want a unit to which anybody who becomes a
full member will be around to celebrate their inception
date annually. We don't want hot-shot squad jumpers,
drop-in members, etc. We have all put a lot of time into
building this unit, and expect only those with the best
qualifications of time, enthusiasm, and reliability to
continue this project and insure its success. Whereas
any new member coming into the unit is a possible CO
down the line, every new member we take into the unit is
a potential threat to our unit cohesion. We also are
deluged with applications from imposters, "spies", etc.
who we have to sniff out by whatever means. There have
been a lot of individuals shut out, excluded, and bumped
from our roster over our history. We wish no one ill
will, and hope the end result puts us in a good light,
but one thing is certain, troop welfare and mission
accomplishment are weighed in retaining ANYONE. If a
prospective member can't or won't put in the time to
pass MCRD, he is no member for us.
Q: How much of my time
will this membership require?
A: Plan on 6 hours a week. This will get you through 2
weekly scheduled trainings, and whatever admin stuff
comes up you may need to attend to. Later we will
substitute some training for actual tournament play.
Q: What sort of battles
will you all fight?
A: The USMC Warriors enter into what has been
traditionally come to be called "Team Death Match" and
"Attack and Defend" style tournaments. We have a liaison
officer who decides where and to which leagues the unit
will battle. At the core of all our training is the
concept of the combined arms battle setup.
Q: You always profess
that the USMC Warriors is tactics- centered... what do
you mean?
A: There are many ways to engage in the multi-player
gaming experience. One common way is everyone fend for
themselves and be a hotshot and spawn rape to bring
points in to get victory. This is common to such games
as the delta force series and counter strike. Another
means of achieving victory is through teamwork and a
pre-designed, agreed-upon and standard tactical
approach, you see this in the rogue spear servers and
will see it come to its logical extreme in the Armed
Assault 2 multi-player environment. Indeed, the USMC
Warriors views Armed Assault 2 more as a "combat
sim" than a "war-game". No more 600 m SAW shots on the
run, no more base raping and other such adolescent crap.
The weapons systems are really close to reality, getting
kills is much more difficult. As such, the approach best
suited to it is that which we were instructed in our own
service's boot camps. Landnav, small unit tactics,
bounding over watch, these things are not just good
ideas, they are crucial to survival in ARMA2.
They have
been used traditionally by the military for one reason,
they work. Thus, our training goes right back to the
basics without cutting corners.
Q: Will I get a RANK?
A: The USMC Warriors does not issue rank as such. In a
word... rank is ... GAY. Rather, we have "billets"
through which members have some control and direction of
the unit. Thus we have a CO, XO and squad leaders. But
you will not see us running around as Colonel and
General. "Promotion" as such is done to recognize those
who rate a billet shift. Once in the unit and a squad
member, your next move would be squad leader, then
platoon sergeant, company commander, etc. We are very
key on promoting those who show effort and talent in
their present billets. The higher your billet the more
say you have over unit policy and direction. This is a
tried and true system for ensuring the proper
maintenance and lifespan of the unit as older members
leave or phase themselves out of control.
Q: How large will this
unit become?
A: As large as we can grow it without compromising
control or unit cohesion. Roughly one company of grunts
(3 squads plus some attachments), a recon section, a
platoon of tanks (around 4) and a squadron of close air
assets (perhaps a dozen individuals).
